In memory of Charles Louis and the Huisking family, the Huisking, Inc. Foundation has made and continues to make contributions to the University. In addition to many "anonymous" contributions to scholarships, buildings, research, and other programs, there are four fully endowed "chairs" in the name of family members. Each Chairs pay the full salary and support for a professor at the University. Below is a section of the University's description of one of the Chairs and background on the Huisking Family Foundation.

THE CHARLES L. HUISKING CHAIR IN THEOLOGY was created in 1999 by the University with the earnings from a gift by the Frank R. Huisking Foundation, which created the Charles L. Huisking Chair in Chemistry and the Catherine F. Huisking Chair in Theology. This chair is in honor of the foundation's founder, who passed away in 1970. Charles Huisking and his wife, Catherine, established the foundation in memory of their son, Frank R. Huisking, a 1937 alumnus of Notre Dame who died in 1944 during World War II.

Charles Huisking was the founder of Charles L. Huisking & Co., Inc., the Greenwich, Connecticut-based parent company of Glyco Chemicals, Inc., and for 17 years was a member of Notre Dame's Advisory Council for the Colleges of Science and Engineering. He was a Knight of Malta and a Knight of Saint Olas while Catherine was a member of the Ladies of the Holy Sepulchre. Charles and Catherine had five sons, all of whom graduated from Notre Dame, and three daughters. Many of their grandchildren have attended the University of Notre Dame and Saint Mary's College.

In addition to the Charles L. Huisking Chair in Chemistry and the Catherine F. Huisking Chair in Theology, the Frank R. Huisking Foundation has also underwritten an endowed scholarship at Notre Dame. It should also be noted that a fourth chair, the Charles L. Huisking Chair in Mathematics, was also created in 1999 by the University with the earnings from the foundation's original gift. In all, the Frank R. Huisking Foundation has provided Notre Dame with four endowed professorships.
